These are the rules we follow when creating content for Couprix. We wrote them down so you know what to expect from us, and so we have something to hold ourselves accountable to.
We Test Everything We Review
We don’t write reviews based on press releases, feature lists, or other review sites. Before we publish a review, someone on our team has signed up for the product, used it for at least a few days (often longer), and taken their own screenshots of the actual interface.
If we can’t test a product ourselves (because it requires enterprise-level access or isn’t available in our region), we say so and don’t publish a review. A review without firsthand testing isn’t a review. It’s a rewrite of the marketing page.
We Include What We Don’t Like
Every product has weaknesses. Every single one. If a review on our site doesn’t mention any downsides, that review hasn’t been published yet because it’s not finished.
We include specific criticisms in every review. Not vague things like “could be better” but concrete problems we ran into: “customer support took 4 days to respond,” “the dashboard froze twice during testing,” “the cheapest plan doesn’t include the feature most people need.”
This makes some affiliate partners uncomfortable. We publish it anyway.
We Verify All Pricing
Software pricing changes constantly. Before publishing, we visit the vendor’s pricing page and confirm every number. We screenshot it as a record.
If a price changes after publication, we update the article as soon as we notice. Our Monday maintenance routine includes spot-checking pricing on recently published articles.
We Declare Conflicts of Interest
If we have an affiliate relationship with a product we’re reviewing, we disclose it at the top of the article. If someone on our team has a personal connection to the company, we disclose that too.
We’ve never accepted payment for a positive review, and we won’t start.
How We Rate Products
Our ratings aren’t based on a formula. They reflect our genuine assessment after testing, considering:
- Does the tool do what it claims?
- Is it worth the price compared to alternatives?
- How was the user experience during our testing?
- Would we recommend it to a friend who asked?
That last question is the one that matters most. If I wouldn’t tell a friend to buy it, it doesn’t get a high rating on this site. Regardless of the commission.
How We Handle Corrections
We make mistakes. When we do, we fix them quickly and transparently.
If you spot an error in any article (wrong price, broken coupon code, outdated feature information), email aman@couprix.com. We’ll verify and update within 24 hours. We don’t add an “Editor’s Note” for small factual corrections. We just fix them and update the “Last verified” date.
For significant corrections that change the substance of a review or recommendation, we’ll add a note at the top explaining what changed and when.
Our Content Is Written by Humans
We don’t use AI to generate articles wholesale. A real person tests each product, takes screenshots, writes their experience, and forms their opinion. We may use AI tools for grammar checking or brainstorming outlines, the same way a writer might use a spell checker. But the opinions, the testing, and the final content come from a human who actually used the product.
Who’s Responsible
All editorial decisions at Couprix are made by Aman Jha. If you disagree with a review, think we’re being unfair to a product, or have any concerns about our editorial process, contact me directly at aman@couprix.com. I read every email.
